New Details Released in Humboldt Homicide

HUMBOLDT, Tenn.- Humboldt Police released some new details about a shooting there, Thursday that happened near an elementary school. Police said the name of the person was Ricky Gaines, 51 of Humboldt. The shooting happened just before 1 p.m. off West Side Drive. Police said Gaines had stabbed and robbed Alexey Ermilov, 29, just before Ermilov, who had a handgun carry permit, pulled out a gun and shot Gaines. Gaines was dead at the scene and Ermilov was treated for non life-threatening injuries. Ganies’ body was taken to Memphis for an autopsy. No charges have been filed as police continue their investigation.
