Several Weakley County Businesses Burglarized

SHARON, Tenn- Authorities in Weakley County towns are investigating a string of burglaries in Martin, Greenfield and Sharon. According to police, several businesses were burglarized including a church, a bank, and Little General store. Business owners are now asking for more police security. “We can’t stay here 24 hours a day. So we depend on the police officers for help,” said Matt Vanmeter, owner of The Tobacco Store in Sharon. Thieves attempted to break into Vanmeter’s store but were scared away by the sound of the alarm system. Other businesses were not as lucky. Police said there were stolen goods from most of the businesses that were burglarized. According to Lieutenant Jason Edwards of the Sharon Police Department, more than $200 was stolen from the Little General store in Sharon. Lieutenant Edwards also said that police in most Weakley County towns are discussing ways to add more patrol during the holiday season.
