JACKSON Tenn.- After the tragic deaths of 20 children and 6 adults, in the Connecticut mass school shooting, many wonder if stricter laws on gun ownership could have prevented the tragedy. West Tennesseans are on both sides of the fence. “Someone can get a gun without much problem and to kill innocent people is absolutely ridiculous. It’s not right for America,” said Jackson resident Justin Morris. “I feel sorry for the families that it did happen too, but myself I’m trying to get my wife a handgun. Most of the time I’m at work at night, and she is home by herself,” Chris Hendrix said of stricter gun laws. Many also feel that West Tennessee sees gun violence far too often. “I do feel like we need to maybe monitor a little bit more who has the guns, and how they get them,” Several on both sides did agree, proper gun education should be practiced by all those who do choose to own firearms.
