MCNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. – Sheriff Guy Buck said he has received hundreds of comments and “LIKES” on his facebook page after he wrote a statement saying McNairy County needs to have resource officers in their schools. Sheriff Buck said he is fighting to get resource officers into McNairy County schools. He said they are more than just an armed officer inside the school building. “One of the most important aspects is mentoring they are there to be positive role model and develop relationships with young adults,” said Sheriff Buck. County Mayor Ronnie Brooks said because of the recent tragedy it is time for the board to talk about school security. “We want them to be able to got to school and feel safe and I think with what has recently happened I feel like it is necessary that we do get with our school board and superintendent and see what the possibilities are going in that direction for more security in our schools,” said Brooks. Sheriff Buck said he is working on a proposal to present to the McNairy County Commission and school board at the beginning of the new year.
