Woman Allegedly Passes Forged Check Belonging to Man in Hospital

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. – A Lexington woman is accused of forging a check of a man who was on his death bed. According to investigators, Audrey Hearn, 37, is charged with forgery in connection with the incident. She is accused of passing a forged check in the amount of $1,212.49 that was the retirement check made out to her former father-in-law. At the time the check was delivered by mail and cashed, investigators said the victim was a patient at a local hospital after suffering a stroke. He was hospitalized at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital for nearly two weeks until his death. Investigators said Hearn confessed to cashing the check and paing her household bills with the proceeds.
