Bells Ring to Honor Newtown Shooting

JACKSON, Tenn. – The victims of the Newtown, Connecticut shootings were also honored with the ringing of church bells, today. Residents gathered at the First Presbyterian Church on North Highland and following a moments of silence the 47 bells of the Jackson Memorial Carillon tolled 26 times. The Governor of Connecticut asked places of worship to ring their bells in memory of each slain victim. First Presbyterian also had a time of shared unity and pray to mark last week’s tragedy for a grieving nation. Church leaders said bells are a lasing symbol are a lasting symbol of God’s love and peace.
