JEA Crews Preparing for Inclement Weather

Jackson, Tenn. – Jackson Energy Authority crews are preparing today for possible inclement weather. JEA crews and contractors make every effort to maintain JEA‘s lines through regular tree trimming and maintenance so that the system is as prepared as possible for continued service. However, soaked ground weakens tree support and forecasts that include sleet and freezing rain raise the potential of damage to utility lines and poles. JEA crews are making sure trucks are fueled and that equipment and supplies are on trucks to facilitate line damage response. JEA customers are reminded that downed power lines should not be touched. Safe driving also helps protect lives and lines as power poles are sometimes downed by vehicles. During outages JEA crews work to restore electric service as quickly as possible. Crews survey damage and begin repairs in the ways that most quickly restore power to as many customers as possible. Our hope is that today‘s weather conditions will be moderate and service disruptions avoided. Outages may be reported directly by calling 422-7500.
