School Board Votes on Upcoming Calendar

JACKSON, Tenn.- The Jackson-Madison County School Board met to discuss two issues that were a part of their work session, Monday night. One was the proposal to change the early state date for schools and eliminate the fall break. The board voted 8-1 to keep the school calendar unchanged, meaning the early start date of August 2 would remain. The board also discussed the status of the contract for newly elected superintendent Dr. Verna Ruffin. Board chairman David Clifft said a few finishing touches are still being ironed out. The board is scheduled to meet to review and vote on the contract proposal next Monday at 6 p.m.
