HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn.- A unanimous vote was taken Thursday night by the board of alderman in Crump on the future of its city’s police department. The city was considering doing away with the department all together and letting the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department take over patrols and answering calls. The board voted in favor of keeping their own department, which includes three full-time and one part-time officer. “I think we get better response time on an emergency call. Also, it’s financially feasible to do that, be cheaper than hiring the county we have them here closer and they have more one-on-one association with the people that live her too,” said Crump Mayor Glen Spencer According to the latest census data, Crump has a population of just more than 1,400.
