Jackson Church Celebrates Black History Month

JACKSON, Tenn. – Members of the First Baptist Church in East Jackson hosted a ceremony to honor Black History Month. The program featured kids in the congregation honoring important African American leaders in U.S. history, as well as prominent leaders in Jackson. Organizers said the celebration is important to honor and keep their traditions strong. The church also hosted a soul food dinner for not just its members, but for residents in the community. Some of the children acted out plays and even demonstrated tribal dance routines that honor their heritage.
