Registered Sex Offender Faces Gun Charge

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. – A registered sex offender found himself behind bars again after law enforcement reported finding guns in his home during a compliance check. According to the report from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, deputies went to the home of Ronald Joseph Reece the evening of February 21 for a standard sex offender compliance check at his residence. Deputies reported finding 11 long guns and two handguns. Reece reportedly told deputies that he owned a Glock handgun, many of the guns belonged to his mother-in-law and other guns were handed down from family. According to the report from the Sheriff’s Department, Reece advised he was a convicted felon and know he was not supposed to have a gun. Reece was booked into the Madison County Jail on a charge of unlawful possession of a weapon, early Thursday morning. He was released on $2,000 bond. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Sex Offender Registry, Reece was convicted of statutory rape in 2001.
