JACKSON, Tenn.- There was a living history lesson for students as a south Jackson high school, Friday. The South Side High School honors history class has been spending the past several weeks learning about the Great Depression. Students had to find someone who lived during that era and interview them as part of the project. Several area residents whop lived through the Great Depression spoke with the class to wrap up the study. The guests talked about how sparse some things were and the challenges they faced. “Things are different than they were back then, and its good to hear how things were then and the lessons they learned that we can learn from today,” said Haley Washam, a South Side High School student. Students said they enjoyed the unique approach to learning about history.
