Humboldt Wins Class A State Championship

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Humboldt put an end to Lake County’s Cinderella run, clinching the TSSAA Class 1A State Championship. The Falcons entered the game with a 10-23 record, having caught fire in the postseason. The Vikings went to work early in this one, getting a big lift from three-point range. They hit four threes in the first half, two apiece for Stephon Turner and Nick McLilly, and took a 34-23 lead into the break. Lake County mounted a major comeback in the second half, taking a 52-50 lead with 3:15 remaining in the game. But Humboldt held on tight, winning the state championship 61-58. Turner led all scorers with 23 and Desonte Bradford added 16.
