JACKSON, Tenn.-The Jackson Street Department said it will have employees on standby as snow moves into West Tennessee. “We got two trucks ready for anything,” said Johnny Weddle, a supervisor with the Jackson Street Department. Workers will salt the roads when snow arrives. “We keep it in stock all year round,” said Weddle. Weddle said crews will tackle problem areas first. “Overpass bridges, intersections, and the hospital areas, fire department, and police department,” he said. The street department said they have employees on-call. They are prepared to work around the clock. The department has two salt trucks ready to go. They can get two more if necessary. “If we have a big snow then we‘ll run until we just, ain‘t nothing else out there,” said Weddle. The street department does not pre-treat the roads in Jackson. Weddle said they will keep a close eye on the forecast and monitor conditions. “We want them to know that we are out there and we care,” he said. Road crews encourage drivers to be careful.
