Educators Learn Ways to Integrate Technology into Classroom

HENDERSON, Tenn.- Educators from across the region are headed back to their local campuses with some new ideas on technology after attending a conference at a local university. Freed-Hardeman University opened its campus to the West Tennessee Technology Association’s annual administrators academy, Tuesday. Leaders with ATA said their goal is to provide administrators with new and innovative ways to incorporate technology in the classroom. Those taking part could chose from among more than 409 sessions on a variety of topics. Some of the choices included the latest apps for education, integration of iPads into interactive classrooms and photo scavenger hunts in class. “The students are living in the technology world. They are what we call digital immigrants, or digital citizens and we are trying to let them learn where they are currently already using technology,” said Chuck Jones, with Jackson-Madison County Schools. The theme for the ATA 2013 Conference was “Engage, Cultivating 21ST Century Leaders. Some of those attending said they have some great ideas that they plan on using in their schools.
