Corker Meets with West Tennessee Business Leaders

JACKSON, Tenn. – One of Tennessee’s U.S. Senators was in West Tennessee, Tuesday. Sen. Bob Corker met with business and community leaders at an event hosted by the Entrepreneur Development Center of Southwest Tennessee. The Republican from Chattanooga, on a break from D.C., talked about the number one economic and national security issue, in his opinion, getting America’s fiscal house in order. Corker said Tennesseans should be optimistic. “There’s still a concern about what we’re going to do in Washington fiscally,” he said. “But I think the state is fairing well, when you look at the environment that we’re in right now.” Corker says Washington and the Senate are busy places right now. “You got groups working on immigration reform,” he said. “You’ve got the White House reaching out as it relates to fiscal issues. But we need more than reaching out. We need a real agreement.” Still Corker says he believes the atmosphere is better now for solving the problems facing our country. Corker who is the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, just returned from a trip to Japan, China and South Korea. While in Asia, he met with political and business leaders to discuss ways to strengthen strategic partnerships in the region and create new opportunities for growth and jobs in the U.S.
