FHU’s ‘Makin’ Music’ this Weekend

HENDERSON, Tenn.- An annual rite of spring is taking place at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson. Students are presenting the 2013 edition of ‘Makin’ Music’ in Loyd Auditorium. The musical extravaganza is featuring competitive entries from six social clubs and performances by the hosts and hostesses along with the show band. The show is the university’s largest student production utilizing 500 students. The musicals are written, designed, choreographed and performed by students. “Everybody backstage is pretty much a student.The show band are students. The people running the lights and stuff, they’re student volunteers and it depends a lot on the students,” said Garrett McDonald, emcee of this year’s ‘Makin’ Music.’ The show Thursday was for area school students. Other performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. There is also a matinee at 2 p.m., Saturday.
