Two Teens and Horses Injured After being Struck by Car

HENDERSON CO., Tenn.- Two teens and their horses were injured late Sunday night, after being hit by a car along Middleburg Street. Witnesses to the crash, David Gray and Jonathan Lancaster, told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness news they saw the car in front of them hit the horses and passengers. “It flew past us so fast it shook the SUV,” Lancaster said about the car in front of them. “Next thing we knew when we go around the curve there he was, plowed into a couple of horses and a couple of kids.” Gray said the impact was brutal. “I saw a boy sitting right beside the vehicle. I mean, if I hadn’t been paying attention I probably would have hit him. There was another boy who was unconscious when I got there, but then he got up and ran to help his buddy.” Neighbors said they have spoken with the family of the victims and both boys are doing well, however one of the horses has died from its injuries. Gray and Lancaster said they were thankful there were able to help. “I think we were just in the right place at the right time,” said Lancaster. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the crash is still under investigation. Officers have not released the names of the victims or said if speeding was a factor in the crash.
