New System to Help Secure West Tenn. School

BRADFORD, Tenn. – One West Tennessee school is coming up with news ways to keep their students safe. “I think with all of the new things, the new technology that they’re going to install at our school, I think it’s going to make me feel more safe,” said parent Susan Cardwell. That is why Bradford Junior-Senior High School administrators are upgrading their security system. “With everything that’s going on, our children need to be protected and that’s really good to make sure we screen everyone that goes in our schools to protect our kids,” said parent Pete Barber. Under the new system, visitors will have to be buzzed into the building. “There will be a camera, and a microphone, where it’ll go straight to my secretary, as well as myself, and they’ll have to be allowed to be let in,” said Principal Shane Paschall. Most parents are pleased with the idea, but some said they feel this should have been done a long time ago. Others said better late than never. “I’m just glad it’s getting done to protect our older kids,” Barber said. The new security system will cost the school district about $15,000.
