Collierville dismissed from Lorenzen Wright suit

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – A federal judge has dismissed the town of Collierville from a lawsuit filed by the ex-wife of slain basketball star Lorenzen Wright.

Sherra Wright’s suit claims Collierville police failed to properly investigate her ex-husband’s disappearance. It also claims Germantown dispatchers mishandled a 911 call from Lorenzen Wright’s phone the night he was killed.

Wright was found shot to death in July 2010. The former basketball star for the University of Memphis and the Memphis Grizzlies had been missing for 10 days.

The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/13sUFlj ) reports a federal judge on Tuesday granted Collierville’s motion to dismiss because Sherra Wright failed to show for depositions, comply with discovery rules or appear at status hearings.

The judge also gave Wright two weeks to say why Germantown should not be dismissed as well.
