Convenience Stores Cited for Underage Beer Sales

BOLIVAR, Tenn-It is Alcohol Awareness Month; and with high school events like prom and graduation underway, police are taking extra steps to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors. In Hardeman County, two stores in the same month, less than a mile apart, were cited for selling beer to teenagers. Bolivar Police said it is not the first time Q-Mart and Bull Market employees have sold alcohol to minors during a sting operation. Parents want something done. “Folks need to do their jobs,” said Terrence Taylor, a father of six. “Whether they look like it or not, employees still need to card them.” According to police, Q-Mart’s beer license has been revoked for 30 days as a result of the April citation; both stores’ employees are scheduled to appear in court in May.
