Mason out as Tennessee associate strength coach
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tennessee is parting ways with associate strength and conditioning coach who sued the university for discrimination and retaliation last fall.
Tennessee athletic department spokesman Jimmy Stanton confirmed Thursday that Heather Mason has been “placed on administrative leave until June 3, at which time she will no longer be employed by the university.”
The move was first reported by the Knoxville News-Sentinel.
Mason, Tennessee associate director of sports medicine for women’s basketball Jenny Moshak and former associate strength and conditioning coach Collin Schlosser filed a suit last October that alleged they performed similar tasks as employees who held similar positions for men’s athletic teams, but that they received less pay because of their gender or because of their association with women’s teams.
