Robertson agrees to jail changes after probe
SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (AP) – Robertson County has agreed to changes at the jail after a U.S. Department of Justice investigation found constitutional rights violations.
The City Paper in Nashville reports the federal government filed the civil rights complaint against Robertson County as well as a joint settlement agreement on April 26. The agreement lays out a plan to bring the Robertson County Detention Facility up to standards. It includes policy, training and employment changes.
The report praises the county for expeditiously responding to complaints and taking corrective actions.
The investigation of the facility, released by the Justice Department in 2011, found numerous problems. They included inadequate food, inadequate mental health care and inadequate supervision of inmates on suicide watch.
