JACKSON, Tenn.–A night club once deemed a public nuisance by the city of Jackson will soon open its doors again. The nightclub, The Mix Factory now goes by the name, The Beach Bar and Grill. “We got the approval to move on,” said Randy Hall, owner. “Jackson’s gone have a new club.” In a unanimous vote Tuesday the city‘s beer board approved the name change. “We decided to change the format, change the look of the building,” said Hall. The city of Jackson filed public nuisance paperwork against the club in March 2012. According to court documents, the Jackson Police Department responded to nearly 100 calls at the club from January 2012 until last March. “They didn‘t have in my opinion adequately trained security inside and the way they promoted the location attracted a crowd that was a problem,” said Jackson City Attorney Lewis Cobb. Cobb voiced concerns about Tuesday‘s decision. “The same people who attracted the problem are still running it and I guess time will tell whether or not that changes,” he said. Hall says he hired Maxxguard security to patrol the parking lot. Beer Board chairman Charles Rahm believes the club deserves a second chance. “Hopefully they’re gonna attract an older more subtle crowd that would not cause the problems that they’ve had in the past,” said Rahm. The Beach Bar and Grill is scheduled to open in early June.
