Cayce McDaniel’s Family Hopeful After Ohio Girls Found

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. – More than a decade has passed since Cayce McDaniel went missing, but family members still have faith she will be found. “I don’t think we’d give up hope, but it’s so hard,” said Kathy Callis, Cayce’s aunt. “But today when those (Ohio) girls were found, it was like a renewing of our hope.” Cayce disappeared from her home in August of 1996. As time passes, it gets harder for the family to keep believing. “I know they still hope they’ll see her,” said Callis. “But it’s frustrating kind of like if you’re from a certain area, you run up against brick walls. And that’s all her family has ever done is run up against brick walls.” Over 17 years after her disappearance, Milan Police said they still keep the case open on the chance that anybody with a tip or any clue of Cayce’s whereabouts calls in and helps them solve this case. Milan Police Chief Tim Wright said in a statement: “You never know when you might get a break in the case or a piece of evidence that lets you know she could be OK, so you keep the case open. Even if there’s only a flicker of hope, you want to keep that alive.” Callis said she believes the local authorities are doing the best they can. She just wishes they would find some kind of answers before it is too late. “Her family is dying away now,” said Callis. “She’s had two uncles die since she went missing, and I just hope she hurries back home before they’re all gone.” If you have any information in this case, call the Milan Police Department at (731) 686-3309 or Crimestoppers at (888) 781-8477.
