MEDINA, Tenn.–The West Tennessee Strawberry Festival Grand Floats Parade will roll through downtown Humboldt on Friday morning. Terry Baker and his dalmatian, Spot-Lite, will lead the parade in an old fire truck. “It‘s the biggest festival in our area,” he said. “Schools let out for it.” Baker buffed out the bug marks Thursday on the old fire truck. “This is my 1967 Seagrave pumper,” he said. Spotlight will ride shotgun. “Sometimes he has a good nap right before the parade, so he can stay awake,” said Baker. Spot-Lite enjoys the extra attention. “He sometimes howls with the siren,” said Baker. Baker started leading the parade five years ago. “Wash it and get it clean so that we have the strawberry on it,” he said. “Move hoses around so the berry has a place to stand,” Baker adds handrails and extra steps for the strawberry. “The strawberry is very fragile,” he said. Bakers takes pride in leading the parade. “It’s just amazing and fun to be given that responsibility to be able to start the parade out,” he said. Baker and Spot-Lite will line up for the parade Friday at 8:30 a.m., weather permitting. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m.
