HUMBOLDT, Tenn.- The Grand Floats Parade rolled through downtown Humboldt despite the wet weather, Friday morning. It is an annual event at the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival. Hundreds of people in Humboldt refused to let rain ruin the parade. “It looked like it was gonna clear up, now it’s raining again, but we’re gonna enjoy it anyway,” said Dawn Hardin, a parade goer. The annual tradition attracts people from all across the region. Hardin and her family came from Alamo. “We’re enjoying the Strawberry Festival,” she said. “We come each year and it’s just a lot of fun, a lot of people, a lot of family and friends.” Marching bands, politicians, and pageant queens rolled down Main Street. Parade goers lined the sidewalks. “It’s just something to do on a Friday, you know. My daughter, she’s out of school and everything,” said Mike Rinks, a parade goer. “It gives us time to spend time and just see stuff.” Attending the parade is tradition for some families. “I like the floats going by and seeing the amazing floats that they got out there,” said Selena Ross, a parade goer. People came armed with umbrellas and raincoats. Many toughed it out despite the downpour. “We wore our gear and brought our umbrellas and still have a good time,” said Hardin. The 76th Annual West Tennessee Strawberry Festival continues through Saturday.
