School Curbs Misbehavior With Leadership Program

SAVANNAH, Tenn. – The Leader in Me Program gives students special responsibilities at the school and for themselves. School leaders says they have cut the number of students being disciplined for bad behavior in half in just one year. The students have been handed over the ownership of the school at Parris South Elementary School. The students are proactive and given a purpose to attend school, ready to learn. “I can have goals and plans for myself to go to college and when i’m an adult and teach my kids and grand kids that being a leader is having responsibility for yourself and working with the community., said Halle Grace Patton. The students are seen in the community at a young leader and a role model to others. “Some kids got in trouble and they’re starting to not anymore. They’re behavior is good and they are not getting in trouble it’s a good influence on the little kids and us as well,” explained Cara Davidson The seven habit of becoming a highly effective person is about aiming activities that help others. “It’s a wonderful program we will be great leader when we are finished with this program we know the great things we can do … Know that we’ve seen it and we’ve focused on the next step in our lives,” said Sarabeth McGee, ” In the long run it will benefit more by the values we instill in them, be responsible, be resourceful , and be respectful… We feel that will make a leader in the community then what a test score would,” said April Williams.
