Truck overturns, Catches Fire, Dumps Load on Highway

THREE WAY, Tenn. – According to State Troopers the 18-wheeler came up the Highway 45 bypass ramp, over corrected, spilled wood on the side of the road and then the eighteen wheeler caught fire. The accident happened shortly before 5:00 a.m., Monday. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver is out of Alabama. He was able to walk away with only a cut to his hand. However, the wreck left a mess on the roadway. Eric Jones assisted in the clean-up of the wreck. “We had an eighteen wheeler hauling lumber around the corner a little too fast and lost his load now we are cleaning up some oil and diesel and debris,” Jones said. Wood littered the road like match sticks. The driver was given a citation for the crash. Jones said, “The fire started on the inside of the truck it was fully engulfed in just a few moments. We got it out and we are trying to clean up the wreckage.” The road was completely shut down for about five hours, but has re-opened.
