Man Arrested after Search Reportedly Finds Drugs

JACKSON, Tenn. – A Jackson man was arrested after a search of his home. According to a news release, William Eugene Hurt, 53, was arrested after police allegedly found precursors, reagents and equipment which had been used to manufacture methamphetamine along with a small amount of finished methamphetamine and a digital scale, Tuesday. Police said that they went to Hurt‘s home on Fitzgerald Road in south Jackson to follow up on information received about methamphetamine production at that location. After the search, Hurt was taken into custody and a Response Truck from the Tennessee Methamphetamine and Pharmaceutical Task Force was called to the scene to package and remove the hazardous wastes and lab equipment. Hurt is charged with initiation of methamphetamine manufacture, possession of methamphetamine and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned in Madison County General Sessions Court and is being held at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
