BROWNSVILLE, Tenn-Owners of El Ranchitos, in Brownsville, said they have never been burglarized before, so they are shocked it could happen twice in one week. According to Brownsville Police, the restaurant was burglarized last Saturday and thieves reportedly got away with hundreds of dollars in liquor and some cash. A few days later, investigators said attempted burglars broke the window but were unable to get in. “The main thing they did was raise a lot of suspicion,” said Vanessa Vandiver, whose father owns the restaurant. “Everyone is wondering what’s happening or what’s going on.” As a family-owned business, workers said this type of crime sets them back. “When they break in, it’s like they’re taking from you personally,” said Juan Martinez, Vandiver’s brother. An alarm system is in place, and even went off during the break-ins. Now extra precautions will be taken. “You just have to keep going,” said Vandiver. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Brownsville Police Department at (731) 772-1212.
