ATF Hosts Explosives Training Exercise

MILAN, Tenn.- Investigations into explosions are not handled by just any officers. They are specially trained and today West Tennessee officers received some of the specialized training. Early Wednesday, the ATF and the Tennessee Bomb and Arson Unit held a session at the Lavinia National Guard Training Site in Milan. A controlled explosion was detonated, then officers investigated, giving them an opportunity to learn how to use what they have, to find answers. “This process is going from the scene and then working backwards. They can determine what type of device that may have been used in the actual bombing,” said Special Agent Michael Knight, Public Information Officer with the ATF. There were 35 people in the class, all from local law enforcement agencies.
