Gregor single lifts Vandy past South Carolina, 4-3
HOOVER, Ala. (AP) – Conrad Gregor singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Vanderbilt a 4-3 win over South Carolina Thursday in an elimination game of the Southeastern Conference tournament.
Tony Kemp led off with a single and the top-seeded Commodores (49-8) eventually loaded the bases with one out against three relievers.
The Gamecocks (39-18) had intentionally walked Connor Harrell, who had two hits. Gregor delivered his second single of the game to score Kemp.
Carson Fulmer (2-0) gave up three hits and one run in the final 4-1/3 innings for Vandy. Vince Conde added two doubles.
South Carolina starter Jordan Montgomery allowed just three unearned runs and stuck out eight in 7-2/3 innings. LB Dantzler had tied the game at 3-3 with a solo homer in the seventh after the Commodores opened a 3-0 lead
