Bank Robbery in Puryear, Suspect of the Loose

HENRY COUNTY, Tenn.- Henry County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a thief after the Security Bank in Puryear was robbed at gunpoint, Wednesday morning. Deputies said a gunman entered the bank at 9:22 a.m., demanded cash, then ran on foot south of the bank. Then they believe he got into a vehicle and fled the area. The gunman was described as a white male in his mid to late 20’s. Officials said he was armed with a handgun, wearing a black mask, maroon sweatshirt and blue jeans. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is also handling the case. Sheriff Monte Blew said deputies are using a tracking dog near the scene and going door to door in area neighborhoods in an effort to gather information. Sheriff Belew said the gunman got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were several employees inside the bank during the robbery but no customers and no one was injured.
