Police Investigating Death of 9-year-old Child

PARIS, Tenn. – Paisley Phillips said she spent Memorial Day with friends in her Henry County neighborhood and says they cannot believe one of them is now dead. “I wanna say sorry, and I’m very sad for them and I hope they get through it because that’s very sad and traumatizing,” said Phillips. Paris Police said they received a 911 call around 10:30 a.m., Tuesday and arrived to the home around four minutes later. Sergeant Frey said upon entering the home they found 9-year-old Trevios Easley on the bedroom floor not breathing. Shaline Humphrey said she feels for her neighbors. “Every time I think about it, it just makes me want to cry I can’t imagine going through that,” she said. Trevious’ family said he was a healthy child and spent all Memorial Day playing outside. Clint Lackey lives nearby and said he is close friends with the family. “It just seemed very surreal to the family. It was just unexplainable,” Lackey said. Paris Police said there were no signs of foul play noted during the initial investigation into Trevios’ death. Trevious’ family believes heat stroke may have contributed to his death. Neighbors said they cannot believe something this horrible happened so close to home. “I feel really sad and scared that it was just that close to the complex and it’s just scary,” Paisley said. As a mother Shaline Humphreys feels for Trevios’ mother. “I can’t imagine something like that happening to either one of my kids,” she said. Paris Police said an autopsy is being conducted and the investigation will remain open until the cause of death can be determined.
