Boy meets with man who saved him from drowning

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) – An East Tennessee elementary school student has met again with a TVA contractor who saved him from the cold water of South Holston Lake.

The Johnson City Press (http://bit.ly/ZrwrKD ) reported Jonathan Clark and his mother went Tuesday to the weir dam at the lake on the Tennessee-Virginia border to see Allen Hawkins.

Jonathan was fly fishing a few weeks ago when he stepped on a rock that moved and he fell into the chilly water. His waders quickly filled with water and he started drifting downriver, but managed to cling to a tree that leaned over the stream.

Hawkins walked out of a rest room he was cleaning and saw the boy in the water. He was able to pull Jonathan in and said he was “ice cold.”
