JACKSON, Tenn- After an investigation of one West Tennessee pharmacy, accused of distributing tainted medications, the Tennessee Department of Health notified three area clinics that received the medicines; but local physicians said their patients should not be affected. Main Street Family Pharmacy in Newbern is under investigation by state and federal health officials. The three Jackson clinics that were notified are Physicians Quality Care, Getwell Family Clinic, and Walker Pain Management, all located in north Jackson. Dr. Peter Gardner, of Physician’s Quality Care, said the suspected injections are commonly used for sinus or joint inflammation, usually administered through epidurals. “The particular lot numbers that they’re concerned about were not used in this clinic or to my understanding at none of the surrounding clinics,” said Dr. Gardner. The Tennessee Department of Health said there have been seven reported case in other states; but they are unaware of any reported cases involving patients in Tennessee.
