Carroll County Humane Society Building Could Collapse

MCKENZIE, Tenn- Workers at a local animal shelter said their damaged building could cost some dogs their lives. The Carroll County Humane Society houses almost 100 animals; but workers said a steadily collapsing roof may ruin the shelter completely. Now they are raising money for a new building, before it is too late. “It’s getting progressively worse,” said Crista McMillan, a worker at the shelter. Since April, they’ve found an architect to design the new shelter and raised $8,500 through fundraisers and donations. Still, workers said they have a long way to go to reach their goal of $150,000. “That’s why we’re doing fundraisers every month,” said McMillan but it’s a slow process. With the drawings of a new shelter constructed and fundraisers underway they are hoping they can save more dogs.
