HENRY Co. Tenn. – Henry Co. deputies have arrested a second man in connection with a weekend murder. Robert Watts, 56, was arrested Monday accused of driving and dropping of John E. Childress. Childress is the prime suspect in the murder of his father. Deputies combed through acres of dense woods near the Benton County line, after a tip that Childress had dumped evidence there. “A officer with the TWRA located a shovel in the area that corroborated some of the information that should’ve been out there,” said Investigator David Doyle. Doyle says the shovel was all that was found in the search, but other searches could follow. “Its really out of place you don’t just find a shovel in the middle of the woods for no reason,” said Doyle. Doyle says Childress has an extensive arrest record, which now includes first degree murder. Childress’ neighbors said they can’t believe someone who is accused of murder lived so close. “I leave my door unlocked,” said Peter Holland. “We all do. No crazy stuff like that happens here.” Childress’ bond has been set for one million dollars. Watts was released from Henry County jail on bond.
