JACKSON, Tenn. – Some local barber students have been getting some much needed experience and helping inmates at the Madison County Jail simultaneously. Barbers from The Barber School in Jackson offer free haircuts to the inmates at the jail each Friday. The partnership allows the students a chance for real-world training. All of the inmates who have their hair cut volunteer for the program. “I did like 23 days down here and was cutting hair when I was here. I decided to bring the students down and let them get experience,” said Lamar Hobson, Instructor at The Barber School. So far, 216 inmates have gotten haircuts from the students.
