JACKSON, Tenn. – Two people are hospitalized Saturday after a shooting late Friday night in East Jackson. “I started hearing gunshots, and I hit the floor where my two youngest kids were asleep,” said resident Natasha Bond. “I just heard the bullets going through my home. I’m terrified that any one over here is next. It’s very scary, I’m afraid to go outside with my kids.” Investigators said the 24-year-old driver of a white van was driving through East Pointe Apartment Complex when suffered a single gunshot wound around 11:30 p.m.. The man did not live in the apartment complex. Witnesses told officers he was driving past a group of three men who were standing outside in the parking lot when they opened fire. Some residents who were too afraid to be identified told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that they believe there were several gunmen shooting at each other. “They will come back, because they came over here to kill,” said one neighbor. “There were so many guns. They came to kill.” Police said a 29-year-old woman inside one of the nearby apartments was also shot by a stray bullet. Police said the woman was inside of her apartment trying to check on her children when the bullet struck her. She was last listed in stable condition. “(She was shot) in the comfort of her own home, where you are supposed to feel comfortable,” said one neighbor. “They say you are safe at home, and she was in her home safe. And now she is shot. They didn’t care if our kids were asleep. They didn’t care who was outside because there were a lot of people outside.” Bullets were recovered in four of the apartments and three parked cars. Residents said the gunfire sounded like a war zone “So many innocent kids are running around here, sleeping in their beds,” said Bond. “They could get shot, it isn’t safe for anyone.” No arrests have been made, but police have released descriptions of the suspects. According to police, the suspects were described as three black men. One had a short hair cut and was wearing an orange and blue plaid, buttoned shirt. Officers said the second suspect had dread-lock style hair and was wearing a black t-shirt. The third suspect was only described as wearing a light-colored baseball cap with an orange bill.
