Cake Lady Honored on her Birthday

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.- A long time supporter of a local agency that helps troubled youth gets a big surprise on her birthday. Staff members along with family and friends of Youth Town came together Monday to honor and celebrate the 95th birthday of Sara Kimes. Kimes, known as the “Cake Lady” has raised more than $120,000 by selling about 5,000 of her homemade cakes, some of which were auctioned for $5,000 each. Kimes is past board member of Youth Town. “It just makes my heart feel good, that God gave me the strength to do it. I’ll say God gave me the strength to do it because it took a lot of strength and a lot of long hours, said Sara Kimes. Kimes said she will keep on making the cakes as long as she can hold a spoon.
