Pastor and Alleged Mistress Arraigned on Conspiracy Charges

UNION CITY, Tenn.- The Union City pastor and his alleged mistress made their first court appearance Monday morning on charges that they plotted to kill his wife. Former pastor Edward Mallonee and church member Shelley Moran were indicted last week on charges of conspiring to commit first degree murder and attempted first degree murder. Church members said Mallonee had pastored Union City’s Second Baptist Church for almost two decades. Investigators said he and Moran were able to get poison, which they intended to give his wife while on a mission trip to Honduras. The two are scheduled to return to court on July 26.
