Grants Awarded for Cities in Gibson County

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and the Tennessee Department of Transportation announced Wednesday three grants for Humboldt, Milan and Trenton for use in downtown improvement projects. Humboldt’s share, totaling $396,248 is for decorative pedestrian lighting and stamped concrete driveways. Milan’s portion totals $392,052 will be used on front street for new lighting, sidewalks, and accessible crosswalks, and new landscaping. And Trenton’s share, totaling $525,469 will use the money for a downtown historical connection project with sidewalks, crosswalks and new signs. Leaders said the grants are designed to enhance economic development.
