Corrections Officer Fired After Arrest on Drug and Gun Charges

DYERSBURG, Tenn- A Dyer County corrections officer was fired after deputies said they found drugs, money, and a gun in her home. Latrace Brandon was fired Wednesday, after deputies arrested her live-in boyfriend, Kenan Parker, during a traffic stop. Deputies said marijuana was found in Parker’s car. A warrant was issued to search Brandon and Parker’s home where they found a shoe box with marijuana residue, $3,000 in cash, and a .45 caliber pistol. “What she did is detrimental to the services we provide,” said Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box. “She made a bad decision about the people that she associated herself with.” Now Brandon faces her own charges: possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a weapon. Sheriff Box said this is not the first time Brandon has been disciplined. Last year, corrective action was taken after deputies found out she was associated with a known felon. Both Brandon and Parker were released on bond. They are scheduled to appear in court on July 1.
