Committee to review firm’s deal with state
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – As a Tennessee General Assembly committee prepares to review a Chicago-based company’s dealings with state government, an administration plan to raze a state office building is being questioned.
Nashville Democratic state Rep. Brenda Gilmore told The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/14KQXnk ) the Cordell Hull Building next to the state Capitol shouldn’t be torn down because one consultant recommended it.
The Fiscal Review Committee, which Gilmore chairs, will review how Jones Lang LaSalle parlayed in initial $1 million contract into a $38 million deal to lease space for state offices.
Gov. Bill Haslam once listed the commercial real estate firm as one of his major investments. Haslam said he sold it before he took office in 2011.
