JACKSON, Tenn.-Teachers from across the state traveled to West Tennessee this week. The Tennessee Alternative Education Association Summer Institute kicked off Thursday morning in Jackson. Jackson-Madison County Schools Superintendent Dr. Verna Ruffin delivered the welcome address. The two-day event takes place at Liberty Technology Magnet High School. Teachers learn how to be better educators. “It’s just to make sure that we all stay in tune with what’s going on with our students,” said Jeanette Henning, dropout prevention specialist. “Our goal is to actually bring knowledge to our teachers and principals and those that are in attendance for today to help them work with students in alternative settings.” The summer institute continues through Friday.
