Former Police Chief Gets Diversion in Theft Case

McKENZIE, Tenn.- Former McKenzie Police Chief Bobby Pate will have a chance to have his recorded cleared, even after pleading guilty last week in Weakley County to stealing more than $10,000 in property from the City of McKenzie. As part of his plea agreement, if Pate completes three years of probation without incident and pays court costs, his theft conviction can be expunged. Pate admitted to taking a John Deere tractor, two street sweepers, a portable trestle hoist and two laptops, while he was chief.
