Jackson Police Department Announces Promotions

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson Police Department has announced promotions and reorganization that they hope will better prepare the department for the future and enhance the department’s mission of service to the community.


A news release stated the following promotions which were effective Monday, July 15, 2013:
 

Patrick Willis is promoted to the rank and assignment of Deputy Chief of Police

(Administration). Deputy Chief Willis previously held the rank of Captain, and

commanded the Special Operations Division. His new duties will include complete

oversight of the Department’s administrative components, including the Planning,

Administration and Operational Support Divisions. Deputy Chief Willis is a 29 year

veteran of the Jackson Police Department.

Thom Corley is promoted to the rank of Major. Major Corley serves as the

Department’s Legal Advisor/General Counsel, and also provides oversight of the

Professional Standards and Integrity Unit (PSIU). The PSIU includes Employee

Selection, Internal Affairs Investigations, Training and Career Development, Policy and

Accreditation Management and Law Enforcement Technology. Major Corley previously

held the rank of Captain. Major Corley is a 23 year veteran of the Jackson Police

Department.

Captain Mike Holt is assigned to command the newly formed Planning and Grants

Division. Captain Holt’s duties include the procurement and management of all grant

funding for the Department. In addition, Captain Holt has oversight of several units and

programs including the Crime Analysis Unit, Crime Prevention Unit and the False Alarm

Management. Captain Holt previously commanded the Criminal Investigation Division,

and is a 31 year veteran of the Jackson Police Department.

Tyreece Miller is promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain Miller is assigned to

command the Criminal Investigation Division. His duties will include oversight of General Investigations Unit, Violent Crimes Unit, Domestic Violence Unit, Sex Offender

Management, Crimestoppers, and the J-Alert program. Prior to his promotion, Captain

Miller held the rank of Lieutenant and commanded the Violent Crimes Unit. He is a 16

year veteran of the Jackson Police Department.

Julian Wiser is promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain Wiser is assigned to command

the Special Operations Division. His duties will include the oversight of the Gang Unit,

Metro Narcotics Unit, SWAT Team, Bomb Unit, K9 Unit and Aviation Unit. Captain

Wiser previously held the rank of Lieutenant and commanded the Gang Unit. He is a 16

year veteran of the Jackson Police Department.

Rick Holt is promoted to the rank of Captain, and is assigned to command the South

Precinct of the Patrol Division. In addition to oversight of all patrol related operations in

the South Precinct, Captain Holt manages the School Resource Officer program.

Captain R. Holt previously held the rank of Lieutenant, and was assigned as the 1st Shift

Commander for the South Precinct. He is a 22 year veteran of the Jackson Police

Department.

 

J.D. Hale is promoted to the rank of Captain, and is assigned to the newly formed

Operational Support Division. His duties include oversight of aspects of Homeland

Security, Special Events and Projects, Incident/Accident Scene Reconstruction, and

Critical Incident Management. Captain Hale previously held the rank of Lieutenant, and

is a 33 year veteran of the Jackson Police Department.

 

Randy Lampley is promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain Lampley is assigned to

command the Administration Division. His duties include the oversight of Records,

Facilities, Fleet Management, Asset Management, and Seized/Forfeited Property.

Captain Lampley previously held the rank of Lieutenant, and is a 30 year veteran of the

Jackson Police Department.

 

In addition to the above Command Staff and organizational changes, the following

promotions and assignments are also effective immediately:

 

• Phillip Kemper is promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant in the Special

Operations Division, commanding the Gang Enforcement Unit.

 

• Mark Reeves is promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant, commanding the

Professional Standards and Integrity Unit.

 

• Phillip Stanfill is promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant, in the Criminal

Investigation Division, commanding the Violent Crimes Unit.

 

• Byron Taylor is promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant in the Planning Division,

commanding the Crime Prevention Unit.

 

• Abe Jones is promoted from Investigator to Sergeant in the Planning Division (Crime Prevention Unit).

 

• Chris Chestnut is promoted from Investigator to Sergeant in the Criminal

Investigation Division (Felony Response Team).

 

• Danielle Jones is promoted from Investigator to Sergeant in the Criminal

Investigation Division (Special Investigations Unit).

 

• John Gause is promoted from Investigator to Sergeant in the Special Operations

Division (Gang Enforcement).

 

• Brandon Moss is promoted from Investigator to Sergeant in the Special

Operations Division (K-9 Unit).

 

• Brien Turner is promoted from Officer to Sergeant in the Professional Standards

and Integrity Unit (Law Enforcement Technology).
