Man Accused of Strangling Cat, Trying to Burn House Down

JACKSON, Tenn.- Strangling a cat and trying to burn a house down is what one Jackson man is accused of doing. Matthew Jones, 23, is charged with animal cruelty and arson. On Saturday, police said Jones’ mother arrived home to find the house smokey and the cat dead in the kitchen. According to a police report, Jones admitted to strangling the cat and setting the kitchen curtains on fire to try and burn down the house. Jones was taken to pathways for evaluation.
